My name is Robbie. I'm from the U.K and I've been traveling the world for the past 5 years.
I have always loved to draw, paint and create. I feel it is something that will always remain with me throughout life no matter what.
I am determined to keep on developing as an artist as I travel. I feel that it will be of value towards my future work when I look for new ideas from my travel experiences, straight out from my imagination.
I feel a drive to create whenever I pick up a pencil or my graphics tablet, and from my imagination when I step into new countries, cities, and towns.
I feel energised when I meet new people, new cultures and when I step into a place that I have never been before.
Art & Design work makes me feel great, especially that sense of achievement after finsihing a piece. The ability to create at any given time is an incredible gift that anybody can experience.
Art has been a hobby of mine from the age of 3 when I was handed my first set of Crayola’s. It has become a passion of mine over time.
I consider myself a deep thinker, i think 'outside of the box' as I like to look at and question things more than the average person probably does.
As a result I become inspired, which can come from anything in my surroundings, especially when I daydream and from my own research into subjects that most interest me.
I am a highly energetic person. I love to get out in nature, take long walks, go for runs, and i like to play football in the park with other people.
Music is another big influence. I love to listen to many genres depending on my mood, and what I am creating.
Throughout my drawing or painting process, I’m constantly taking ideas in new directions, changing, altering, and adjusting to find balance and new areas of interest. I often ask relatives or close friends for their opinion even before I have finished.
My favourite traditional tool is probably a simple sketching pencil and sketchbook. I find that it is the easiest and fastest way of bringing the ideas and images from my head, down into something visual on the page. With a few pencil stokes you can capture the movement and energy of a pose. With a few more you can catch the character within just a few seconds.
I sketch people on public transport as practice when I’m on the go. I feel that I learn so much, even about human behaviour, postures, emotions, things I didn’t ever really notice before. Drawing people in public has become a great tool for me to sharpen my mind and observation.
My favourite digital tool has to be Adobe Photoshop and my Wacom graphics tablet. Digital tools such as Photoshop offer you the chance to ‘free up’ more, to lose any sense of fear of being cautious about making silly mistakes because you can always correct them much more effectively and faster than compared with traditional mediums. But Photoshop is just a tool.
Illustrator is the other software I like to work with. Unlike Photoshop, you can create clean, crisp and accurate shapes which can be used for multiple purposes.
My recent work has been inspired by many things. I feel that I have become more open minded and ‘out there’ as a person over the last few years. I often feel this urge to express the things that most interest me in life. Life’s Mysteries, phenomenon’s, the unknown, space and time, human nature, behaviour, special abilities, the future, landscapes, planets, energy and consciousness.
I like to explore and play with moods in my art. I like to try and evoke a certain ‘feeling’ within the viewer, whether it is by the emotion of a character or the atmosphere of an environment.
Thought provoking images interest me also. I like to tell stories, and sometimes I like to leave clues for the viewer to make his/her own version up from the image.
Through time i intend to continue to broaden my horizons, to evolve, to develop many styles, skills and touch upon many subjects. I want to stay curious, ambitious, adventurous and determined.
